The R/O's name was Mark ? I believe he was fighting a terminal illness at the time.

Yes, the R/O was Mark Hodge or Mark of Cornwall as we called him on the Olwen up in the Cod War. He came to stay at my Parents pub in Wales and tragically passed away a good many years ago - a true gentleman.
