Joined as cadet in 1976 at Poplar Tech. First vessel Olna in 1978, last one Sir Geraint in 1991. Left and moved into the OSV industry working my way up from port engineer to general manager. Currently GM of Topaz Marine MENA, based in Doha, Qatar. Served on Fort Austin during the Falklands. Difficult to pick a favourite ship but I had a real liking for the Grange /Austin and did a Far East deployment on the former as a cadet so that sticks out. However served on some great ships and never really had a bad trip. Have recently had contact with two ex RFA engineers and this has stirred my interest. |
